" Living Among Lions "
Maybe because I enjoy living with lions I chose this splinter this wayward drifting child of Africa You made me feel acutely feline conjuring tawny with tongue-timbre pulling out laying on stripes We tigered ourselves in lush lands carved crescents out of stars cultivated the art of night vision between minarets and mornings When we settle to make round shapes under grey skies for the last time I will think of the gifts of leaving a slice of flesh words fashioned into silver breeze bells the intricately carved bone of an oryx
